Amy Johnson One Last Flight
44 Buller's Ave, Herne Bay CT6 8UH
We all now know about Amy Johnson and her links with Herne Bay, thanks to the great Amy Johnson Memorial Statue on our Herne Bay Promenade. Yesterday was also the 77th anniversary of Amy Johnson’s death.
On the 9th March the Herne Bay Little Theatre will be holding a performance of ‘Amy Johnson : Last Flight Out’.
Written and performed by Jenny Lockyer
Directed by Vern Griffiths.
For ages 14+
Amy Johnson had her ambitions and she flew at them, living her life for adventure and the future of aviation. In 1930 she became the first woman to fly solo from England to Australia. She flew there in a beloved Gipsy Moth called Jason beating the
record to India on the way. Amy had dark days and bright ones. In this original one woman show we meet her in a world of mixed memories, desires, wishes and ambitions and as we find out about her life we start to see how the pieces fit and the tools Amy used to bring her dreams to reality.
This performance will run without an interval from 8pm to about 9.15pm, then there’ll be a break followed by an after show talk with Jenny Lockyer and Jane Priston of the Amy Johnson Project in Herne Bay.
